Ronald “RJ” Rubino – President
Rubino spent the last decade coaching competitive rowing, leading programs including Canisius High School, BSRA and RowBuffalo to win over 40 national titles and a World Championship. As a rower, RJ won national championships at the high school and collegiate level, and he competed at the Junior World Championships. Graduating from the University at Buffalo with a degree in finance, RJ actively invests in real estate and is dually licensed to sell both commercial and residential properties through Hunt Commercial and Hunt Real Estate.
Allan Amico – Secretary
Native of Orchard Park, NY, graduated from Buffalo’s Canisius High School Class of 2009 and Princeton University 2013. Rowing for both institutions, he won and medaled at numerous national championships. Notably, Amico won the 2008 Crash Bs World Indoor Rowing Championships and went on to compete with RJ Rubino for Team USA in the Junior Men’s four event at the 2009 Junior World Championships. Allan currently serves as a Director on the Investment Team at WP Global Partners in New York, NY.
Jerry Jacobi – Treasurer
Jerry brings over 30 years of financial leadership as a Commercial Banker and a lifetime of athletic achievement to the Buffalo Rowing Club. A two-time U.S. National Team member and National Champion in both high school (Amherst HS) and college (Syracuse University), he is a Syracuse Rowing Hall of Fame inductee and past President of the Syracuse Alumni Rowing Association.
As a coach, Jerry has guided crews to U.S. National, Canadian Secondary Schools, and Royal Canadian Henley titles. He also applied his strength and conditioning expertise to Buffalo East High School Basketball, helping the team capture multiple city and sectional championships and a New York State Semi-Final berth.
Zackary Mecca – Head of Oarsman Committee
Zachary graduated in 2024 from Harvard University where he was a four-year member of the Varsity Lightweight Rowing Team, 2024 IRA National Champion, 2x winner of the Head of the Charles, and 2x Eastern Sprints silver medalist. He is an alumnus of Canisius High School where he won the 2019 USRowing Youth National Championships. He has four years of elite coaching experience at Canisius High School, Buffalo Scholastic Rowing Association, and Community Rowing, Inc. in Boston, MA. He now works in New York City.
